Flesh and Bone

My spirit tied to flesh and bone
Will often cry and moan or groan
For greater things it wants to see
But, tied to flesh this cannot be

My spirit made to walk with God
My flesh to walk on earthly sod
My spirit made to live beyond
My flesh, this world it’s gripping bond

My spirit made to sing and praise
My flesh, my spirit oft’ betrays
My spirit man wants more and more
My flesh is weak, is tired and sore

My spirit made to live sin free
My flesh, it cannot sinless be
My spirit wants to soar and fly
My flesh is so afraid to try

My Savior will return someday
My flesh and bone will go away
Instead I’ll have a body new
Where flesh and spirit are not two

My spirit with new flesh and bone
Will never ever moan or groan
The greater things I’ll finally see
For one new man I’ll always be

The Turning Place

Confession is an awesome place
Where men turn to the Savior’s face
It is the place we turn to pray
When from our sin we turn away

It is a place of joy and pain
It’s where we turn from sin again
It’s there we see our sinful side
It’s there we know that we can’t hide

But, fellowship with God is there
There our God will hear our prayer
There joy is once again restored
There mercy on our hearts is poured

Confession is a place so clean
There God Himself no sin has seen
It is a place where men are free
Where all men live on bended knee

It is a place I’ll go today
When I might sin or not obey
So keep confession near your heart
In case you need a clean restart

Preach

I preach alone the cross of Christ
The power of His Word
And why his life He sacrificed
To be Savior and Lord

I preach of Christ the crucified
The wisdom of our Lord
I preach of sinners justified
How they can be restored

I preach of His own righteousness
God’s gift to mortal man
I preach man must his sin confess
To know salvation’s plan

I preach that He will sanctify
All those who trust His Word
For He alone can purify
But only those who’ve heard

I preach redemption to all men
Good News from heaven sent
And those in Christ cry out amen!
As they from sin repent

I preach the glory of our King
All glory to His name
We join our hearts and to Him sing
Forever of His fame

Fripp Island

A gentle breeze is blowing
Across the fresh clean sand
With tides forever flowing
By God’s almighty hand

The dancing rays of sunlight
Skip on the ocean tide
Sparkling diamonds take their flight
With joy they cannot hide

The waves continue crashing
As clouds drift in the sky
With dolphins turning, splashing
Great birds glide slowly by

Deer graze like silent statues
Fawns leap to run and play
The cool trees feel like igloos
In heat of summer day

The crabs run helter-skelter
Across the heated sand
They race for food or shelter
In water or on land

Each isle, a revelation
In many glorious ways
Of beauty in creation
Which shows and sings God’s praise

Who Can?

Who can now come against the one
For whom God gave His only Son?
God freely gives to every need
To those His Son from sin has freed

Who can now bring a charge of sin?
When God our Judge declared our win
His Son has paid the price for all
Those justified stand free and tall

Who can condemn our souls to death?
When Christ for us gave His last breath
He then was raised to life anew
Now intercedes for me and you

Who can now ever separate
From us the love of God so great?
In persecution, pain or sword
Through death itself, He is still Lord

And like my Lord who died for me
My joy will be to set men free
So each can know the mighty love
That overflowed from heav’n above

Heaven’s Gift

Some shepherds watched their flocks by night
In quiet dark of dim starlight
The silent night God’s glory broke
When in the sky an angel spoke

The sheperds stunned, with terror filled
But angel words their terror stilled
Good News was born that night to men
The angel told them where and when

Then heaven with His praises rang
While in the sky the angels sang
To God in Heaven be all glory
Peace on earth, God’s Christmas story

Then off the sheperds ran to find
The baby Savior of mankind
And like the angel had just said
They found Him wrapped in manger bed

They bowed before the baby King
Still so amazed by everything
The singing angels in the sky
And Savior baby born to die

While men still live in dark of night
This same Good News still brings them light
But each must choose to go and see
Christ, born to set the sinner free

That was the reason that He came
And bore our sin, disgrace and shame
The Savior King was born to man
Salvations gift, God’s Christmas plan

God’s Path

Contentment, peace and joy within
Can’t ever coexist with sin
For light and darkness cannot share
And those who think so only err

Contentment, peace and joy contain
No emptiness and all it’s pain
But, fullness, power, life anew
Not all the junk that sin gives you

Contentment, peace and joy pursue
Not lies and words that are untrue
For light and life are just ahead
So take God’s path this time instead

Contentment, peace and joy will be
The life you’ll find in Christ, you’ll see
For even in this world of sin
Through Christ your battle you will win

In Your Hand

I place my life Lord, in your hand
My life is yours alone
I make no claim and no demand
Before your holy throne

Your love for me exceeds my own
Your care will meet my need
Your sight can see what is unknown
Your plan Lord, will succeed

Held in your hand I am with You
Your presence, joy and peace
On all the paths my life leads through
Your love will never cease

Your hand is better than my own
I trust You more than me
In Christ your love for me was shown
You bought and set me free

Again Oh Lord, I’m in your hand
My life is yours alone
I will obey your each command
And kneel before your throne

Reconnect

Your heart, Oh God, must have cried
When Adam turned from You
And then to watch him run and hide
From his failed garden coup

The eyes that sought your loving face
Now ran, to flee from You
The sin, the shame, complete disgrace
Oh man what did you do?

Your heart, Oh God, did not reject
The man who turned from You
Instead You chose to reconnect
And man You would pursue

Your broken, caring, loving heart
Cried, “Adam, where are you?”
Man didn’t know what sin would start
But, You already knew

Your heart, Oh God, will not reject
The man who turns to You
You always chose to reconnect
For this is what You do

Call us, Oh God, right where we are
So we will seek your face
Return us whether near or far
By your unfailing grace

Dig Deep

Lord, come and dig deep in my heart
Come in, uncover every part
Uncover and remove my sin
That I have buried deep within

I know that sin will ruin me
So from my sin come set me free
It brings to man just pain and death
And takes from him his very breath

It promises the world to men
And off the sinners run again
But sin delivers only hell
It always has since Adam fell

Come take my sin, Lord, far away
Come break my night with light of day
Come shine the light of truth in me
Lord, with that truth come set me free

For all my sin You paid the price
What I could pay would not suffice
I’m still amazed, for me You came
To take away my sin and shame

So as You dig deep in my heart
Remove my sin and clean each part
Please joy in what You do in me
Another sinner You set free
