Clean House

There were pigeons, sheep and oxen

And all the sellers too

Like crooked temple businessmen

Inside their temple zoo

When Jesus saw His Father’s house

A business and a barn

He as a zealous powerhouse

Cleaned house with whip and arm

He told the men to take away

Their animals and birds

He told them this was not okay

Then drove with whip and words

The animals ran out the doors

While money rolled around

The business men were on all fours

Their money on the ground

The crooked temple businessmen

Were there for cash and gain

But, there before the King of men

Found only loss and pain

The Temple was the sacred place

Where man could come to pray

Where every man could seek God’s face

And seek God’s holy way

Christ still demands a Temple clean

That temple of our hearts

So only God is ever seen

In all our inward parts

New Tax Man

Yes, Jesus entered Jericho

To meet an undersized tax pro

But, not because of tax He owed

No, Jesus brought a higher code

Tax man was very well-to-do

How he got rich, the people knew

To men like him they paid their tax

He often took more than the max

All Jericho ran out to meet

This Jesus, walking down the street

Tax man was short and could not see

He ran ahead and climbed a tree

He then saw Jesus coming by

He realized Jesus caught his eye

Then over to the tree He came

He called the man by his own name

“Zacchaeus”, He said, to tax man

“A stay with you is in my plan,

Come, I will stay with you today,

Before I go once more my way”

Zacchaeus took Him home to eat

Some grumbled while He taught the cheat

But, Jesus changed the sinner’s heart

He gave Zacchaeus a new start

He then gave half his wealth away

To all he wronged he did repay

Salvation came to him that day

When Jesus came to him to stay

When Jesus meets with men today

His code of love they then display

When Jesus finds and saves the lost

They follow Him at any cost

His Cross I Bore

I am Simon of Cyrene

My name is known by few

I was in Jerusalem

My story sad but true

I heard a great commotion

And went to see just why

I saw soldiers lead three men

All three to crucify

I thought someone said Jesus

I ran to them to see

This beaten man was Jesus!

How could this ever be?

The people mocked the Savior

The One who healed their sick

And now they yelled in anger

How could they change so quick?

In my disbelief I stared

Then suddenly I heard

When a soldier yelled at me

He called and held his sword

He ordered me to carry

The cross of Jesus Christ

On which soon, the Lamb of God

Was to be sacrificed

The cross I bore to that hill

Was only made of wood

It’s true weight I did not bear

For no one ever could

Yes, I bear a burden light

Compared to His for me

He took all my sin and shame

That day on Calvary

Joyful Morning

The morning of eternity

Will dawn when Christ returns

And on that morning we will see

Him who our heart now yearns

Yes, it will be a joyful day

For those who love His name

Eternal light will then display

The Christ that we proclaim

Eternity will swallow time

And time will be no more

A new and perfect paradigm

Now ours forevermore

For men who know not Christ has bled

For those in death and sin

These men will be forever dead

Just like they’ve always been

Think more than just, Christ will return

Go spread His Word instead

Make this your number one concern

We’re here to wake the dead

The morning of eternity

Will be a joyful day

For on that morning you will see

The men you led His way

Free To Live

Christ came to set us free from sin

To free man from the death he’s in

Christ cleanses us from all our sin

Then comes to dwell with us, within

Christ will not leave you in your sin

He wants to dwell in you, within

His reason to come visit man

Was truly a redemptive plan

In God’s Word true, we simply see

Man can’t be both a slave and free

Some ears have heard, some eyes have read

Yet, some in spirit remain dead

Deceivers, righteousness will claim

But, live unrighteously the same

These men in sin will stay and die

For with no truth will they comply

God’s children are of Spirit born

From sin and death forever torn

For our new nature turns from sin

It no longer is, what it has been

God’s children do what He has said

Not so, with children of the dead

Live as a free man, free from sin

Your Lord now lives and reigns within

Stuff Enough

For some men more is not enough

For those who seek themselves in stuff

More brand new things won’t satisfy

But empty men still daily try

There was a wealthy man of bliss

Whose story sad, was one like this

He farmed his land and prospered well

Himself he then began to tell

“My barns I’ll tear down to the ground

And built the biggest ones around

I’ll store my grain and riches too

There’s nothing more for me to do

Sit back, relax and rest awhile

Go eat, be merry, drink and smile

For years to come I’ll have enough

I have a massive pile of stuff”

But, God said to the man that day

“Tonight’s the night you’ll pass away

Then all your stuff, whose will it be?

It won’t be yours, you soon will see”

Men are fools, who, to God don’t give

They think they will forever live

They lay up treasures for themselves

But, not on heaven’s timeless shelves

Here foolish men store wealth on earth

To riches blind, of timeless worth

Do not pursue a bliss so grim

God calls us to be rich toward Him

Rejoice To See

Rejoice my friend when sinners turn

When from God’s Holy truth they learn

When they then turn to Life from death

And take their first eternal breath

Rejoice to see their mind and heart

From endless death and darkness part

Rejoice to see God light their way

And guide them each and every day

Rejoice to see these dead men walk

To see them joy in Christian talk

Rejoice to see them love and live

To serve, to care and to forgive

Rejoice to see new life and peace

To see the work of evil cease

Rejoice when these whose words and ways

Are nothing like their former days

Rejoice to lead these men from sin

Far from the evil they were in

Rejoice to see them run to Christ

He who, for them, was sacrificed

Rejoice my friend when sinners turn

When from your life God’s truth they learn

Rejoice to walk God’s path with men

Who once were born, then born again

Worry Free

Let not anxious thoughts of life

Make your worried heart despair

Life is more than what you eat

And much more than what you wear

Life is more than food you eat

More than clothes upon your back

Birds don’t plant or store their grain

Yet, God’s birds don’t live with lack

If God feeds the birds we see

Then why would He not feed you?

You have value vast to God

Worry not, He’ll feed you too

Being anxious will not add

To your life, a single day

Don’t be anxious in your life

It doesn’t help anyway

God made the grass and flowers

All adorned in beauty great

If the flowers He can dress

Then His good anticipate

Food and drink, the world will chase

And so many other things

Seek Gods Kingdom and His way

Then to you, watch what He brings

His Kingdom is His pleasure

The great gift He wants to give

In Heaven place your treasure

And be here, content to live

Throw away your anxious thoughts

Trust that He for you will care

But, keep your heart in Heaven

And build lasting treasure there

Meet Me First

Lord, I must sit here at your feet

Where we do daily come to meet

The world, it waits, each day for me

But, first I need to be with Thee

The busy rush of dying men

As they each seek for self again

Is constant noise that fills this world

The place where they are daily hurled

They rise to run, both to and from

To win or to be overcome

They look behind, they look ahead

The fear of loss a constant dread

They seek but find the same old thing

And to it, they will always cling

They seek for self but cannot find

While ceaseless noise still fills the mind

Into this world I go today

Where frantic people work and play

Lord, I must go and live there too

I’ll walk with them, but Lord, like You

So Lord, I must sit at your feet

Each day before the world I meet

The world, it waits, each day for me

But, first I need to be with Thee

Not Far Away

Jesus, I heard, was coming by

I had to see Him or I’d die

Twelve years I suffered with no cure

No doctor help could I secure

Into the street I went to see

There was Jesus, not far from me

With Jairus, Jesus walked that day

So through the crowd I made my way

I knew that He could heal me now

If I could touch His robe somehow

I got real close and touched His cloak

Then the power of sickness broke

That very instant I was healed

That moment though was not concealed

For Jesus asked right in the road

“Who touched Me? My power just flowed”

But, everyone touched Him that day

Yet I was healed, what could I say?

I came before Him in the street

I trembled, then fell at His feet

I told Him then, what I had done

He said in front of everyone

“Daughter, your faith has made you well”

His love rushed in to fear expel

He chose to stop, to care for me

From my burden to set me free

Reach out, touch the Savior today

You will find Him not far away
